Getting to Know Lopa Pandya

What is a typical day like for you?

I usually have a mix of all clinic days and all Operating Room days. Typically, during a clinic day, I will see patients in person and also have telemedicine visits. Between patients, I try to respond to patient messages or answer questions from the nurses or other doctors. If I have a day in the operating room, it depends on if I am doing major or minor surgeries.

What inspired you get into this field of medicine?

I like to be active and try new things. I wanted other people to be able to be as active as they wanted to be. Urogynecology is really about impacting someone’s quality of life, and doing it on their own terms.

What is your favorite part about your job?

That patients get to chose what they want to do. I rarely have to tell someone they should do something, or have to do something.

What's one thing you wish people knew about incontinence or urogynecology?

Incontinence and other pelvic floor disorders are not normal, but they are very common!
