As a durable medical equipment (DME) provider, Aeroflow maintains a high level of focus on providing patients with the highest quality of care possible, but we also wish to advocate for each of our patients and give back to the community every chance we get, which is why we are proud sponsors of the Special Olympics.
The Henderson County Special Olympics Spring Games recently took place on Friday, April 13, and we were honored to attend and fully support over 350 athletes as they bravely performed in front of numerous cheering fans.
Aeroflow Is A Proud Special Olympics Sponsor
Part of our commitment includes helping patients receive advanced medical equipment that allows them to comfortably and confidently maintain their freedom and quality of life, even when it comes to renal or urological disorders.
When placed with the right incontinence supplies or catheters, children and adults don’t have to slow down or sit out from their favorite activities. They can remain dedicated to their favorite sports and hobbies to even compete for the gold!
It was incredible to have our booth set up front row and center, to be able to witness a number of sports from softball throwing to wheelchair races. We also cherished our opportunity to speak with families, athletes, and friends attending the event to learn about the unique challenges faced and overcome in order to compete.
Since the Special Olympics were established in 1968 they have been able to serve and advocate for athletes with intellectual disabilities through the power of sport. Through the support of sponsors, hundreds of thousands of volunteers, and dedicated coaches the organization continues to grow, but still needs assistance in order to reach more people with intellectual disabilities.
The Special Olympics gives both children and adults with intellectual disabilities goals to look forward to with year-round training for athletic competitions. It’s a major source of physical fitness and courage.
Not only do participants get to experience the joy of showcasing their skills, but many gain confidence through the encouragement and friendships. The athletes have the freedom to be themselves while surrounded by others who are just as excited to be unique.
Suddenly ordinary places where the games occur, such as the track at East Henderson High School are transformed into nurturing environments filled with unconditional love and belonging. Athletes are able to forget their problems in an often isolating life to fully participate in engaging, social events to build their self-esteem.
We’re Looking Forward To The Next Event
Ultimately, we got to be apart of a major celebration to honor the human spirit, as all people have the capacity to become gold medalists. We are proud to support the Special Olympics, an organization advocating and spreading awareness for those with intellectual disabilities and will continue to do our part.
We will also be a sponsor for the Special Olympic Spring Games for Buncombe County on May 3rd at TC Roberson High School. Everyone is invited to donate, volunteer, or simply enjoy the sporting events while encouraging athletes who are ecstatic to have the opportunity to perform.
